Happy New Year! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed some quality time with family and friends over the holidays. We’ve enjoyed several parties and time with family. It’s also been great to relax and spend time reflecting on 2013.
As the holiday dust starts to settle in our house, John and I sit down (usually he’s locked in the car with me) and look ahead to the things we want to achieve in the coming year. We make our own personal top 10 priority list for the next year. It often includes things we want to do or buy, places we want to go and even date nights. My kids also enjoy the process and often want to create their own priority lists. It’s great to get them involved at a young age and it can be amusing what they come up.
One of my favourite parts of the process is looking back on the year gone by to see how successful we were with last year’s priority lists. I love being able to check things off our lists.
When you build your list, be sure to include a combination of big and small items so you experience success right away. It’s also important to include the lofty goals that cause you to think about how you will achieve them. You may need to learn new skills, make a career change or push yourself to make things happen. But you won’t be disappointed. Having goals and priorities help to keep you focused and moving things forward in a positive way.
All the best for a wonderful holiday season and a successful New Year!!
